Actually there are only 6,000 Resident agents in North Dakota, a much better ratio of residents to insurance agents. Why does the records show almost 50,000? It seems that with the surge of 800 number and internet insurance sales, a large influx of non-resident agents have entered North Dakota. People who answer the phone and deal with customers online must have an insurance license in the State.
